Job summary

Volvo Group's Kings Mountain Operations is seeking a Maintenance Technician – PLC & Robotics (Mechanical Focus) to support safe, continuous production by performing mechanical overhauls, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on automated lines, gearboxes, and robotics tooling.

You will read schematics, work with PLCs and robot pendants, and collaborate with Quality to verify welds and mechanical tolerances while maintaining safety standards and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read PLC ladder logic and navigate robotic teach pendants for basic diagnostics.
• Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine guarding for safety compliance.
• Proficient in using mechanical measuring tools and shop equipment.
• Able to read mechanical blueprints, hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and team-oriented communication skills.
• Basic computer skills for CMMS entry and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical overhaul, preventive maintenance, repair, and alignment on production equipment and robotics tooling.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems and maintain associated piping, cylinders, pumps, and valves.
• Support PLC and robotic control diagnostics, monitor I/O status, and verify interlocks/sensors.
• Read schematics and blueprints to fabricate or install components; follow safety guidelines.
• Operate material handling equipment safely and maintain environmental compliance.
