Qualifications

Position Overview

Encore Talent Solutions is seeking a hands‑on Cooling Controls Engineer with strong experience in PLC programming, CAREL development environments, and HVAC/cooling control systems to support the development and security enablement of advanced cooling products.

This position focuses on integrating and enabling security functionality directly within cooling control software before products are released to market. The engineer will work within CAREL, PLC, and network management development platforms to write and modify code, implement security features, troubleshoot technical issues, and validate product functionality.

The ideal candidate brings a combination of cooling controls engineering, hands‑on software development, and product security implementation, with the technical ability to work directly within development environments rather than solely configuring or maintaining existing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain control software across CAREL, PLC, and network management platforms.
• Implement and enable required security features by default within cooling control products prior to release.
• Work directly within CAREL development environments, including 1tool, c.suite, and related software platforms.
• Write and troubleshoot PLC programming logic supporting cooling and thermal management applications.
• Integrate security‑related functionality into existing and developing controls applications.
• Perform functional testing, debugging, and validation following software and security modifications.
• Troubleshoot software, controls, communication, and integration issues throughout the development lifecycle.
• Support product development, testing, and release activities to ensure secure, reliable, and fully functional cooling control solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering and development teams to resolve technical challenges and support successful product releases.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in controls engineering, cooling controls, PLC programming, or controls software development.
• Hands‑on experience with CAREL controllers, components, and development environments.
• Strong PLC programming experience, including the ability to write, modify, debug, and test control logic.
• Experience with CAREL 1tool, c.suite, or comparable CAREL software development tools.
• Experience working with network management controllers, communication cards, or connected control systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, cooling, refrigeration, or thermal management control applications.
• Demonstrated experience developing or modifying controls software within an engineering or product development environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and validate software changes throughout development, testing, and product release.
• Ability to work onsite in Lancaster, New York.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing embedded controls software for HVAC, refrigeration, or industrial cooling equipment.
• Familiarity with security functionality within connected or network‑managed control products.
• Experience integrating security requirements into controls software during product development.
• Background supporting cooling equipment, electronic controllers, or industrial automation products through testing and production release.
• Experience working with network‑connected PLCs and embedded control platforms.
