Job summary

Rich Products Corporation is seeking a PLC Controls Technician to maintain equipment and implement control systems across production lines. The role covers upgrading PLCs, wiring modifications, and hardware/software testing for PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and servo systems.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with formal trade education, 8 years in a related mechanical field (food, chemical, or pharma), and ASEP certification.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with formal technical trade education.
  • Eight years of experience in a mechanical setting related to food processing, chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Aseptic certification required.
  • Must pass a basic skills/test.
  • Solid knowledge of schematics, PLCs, process & instrumentation drawings.
  • Strong hydraulics, pneumatics and fluid power knowledge.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Must pass a basic computer skills test.
  • Must pass equipment manufacturer aptitude review.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee PLC upgrades and wiring modifications on production equipment.
  • Design, implement and test control system software and hardware for PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and servo systems.
  • Ensure operator, maintenance and support safety during implementation or modification.
  • Organize software/hardware changes to minimize production impact.
  • Support Engineering/Maintenance with line modification projects.
  • Assist Maintenance with troubleshooting and repair of automated equipment.
  • Install conduit, pull wires and terminate.

Job description

Location: New Britain, CT, US, 6053

Purpose Statement

The PLC Controls Technician maintains equipment to all specifications relating to electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and troubleshooting in a team operation.

  • Oversee PLC upgrades and wiring modification on production equipment.
  • Designs, implements and tests for proper operation the control system software and hardware for a wide variety of PLC (programmable logic controllers), HMI (human machine interfaces), Process Instrumentation and Servo Systems.
  • Throughout control system software/hardware implementation or modification, ensure the safety of operators, maintenance and support personnel working in proximity to automated equipment.
  • Organize control system software/hardware implementation or modifications to minimize the impact on production.
  • Provide the Engineering or Maintenance Team with support in the implementation of production line modifications.
  • Provide the Maintenance Team with support in the troubleshooting and repair of equipment or instrumentation operating under the control of an automated system.
  • Installation of conduit, pull wire and terminate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent coupled with formal technical education in a trade school setting.
  • Eight years of experience is required in a mechanical setting relating to the food processing, chemical or the pharmaceutical industry
  • Must pass aseptic certification course.
  • Must be able to pass a position specific “basic” skills test.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of schematics, PLC’s, process & instrumentation drawings.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and fluid power systems.Must be able to function in a team environment.
  • Must pass a basic computer skills test
  • Must pass equipment manufacturer review of demonstrated aptitude
