Job summary

Rich Products Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Chicago Heights, IL to perform basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic repairs and preventive maintenance on all plant equipment and facility structures.

The role requires reading electrical schematics, troubleshooting VFDs and PLCs, and ensuring safe, compliant operations across shifts in a food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Be able to read and interpret electrical control schematics.
  • Available to work any shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic repair and preventive maintenance on plant equipment and facility structure.
  • Set-up, troubleshoot, and repair stacking, bagging, check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erectors, and conveyor equipment.
  • Dismantling and re-assembly of equipment for repairs, cleaning, and lubrication per maintenance schedules.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair 110/230/460-volt electrical equipment including motors, starters, relays, panels, and wiring.

Maintenance Technician

Location: Chicago Heights, IL, US, 60411

Purpose Statement

The Line Maintenance Technician’s responsibility is to perform basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic repair and preventive maintenance on all plant equipment and the structure of the facility.

  • Perform all work as assigned while adhering to established standards associated with workmanship and safety.
  • Responsible for the safe and dependable operating condition of all equipment in the facility.
  • Set‑up, troubleshoot, and repair of stacking, bagging, check‑weighing, UPC bar coding, case erectors, and conveyor equipment.
  • Dismantling and re‑assembly of equipment to perform repairs, cleaning, and lubrication according to established maintenance schedules.
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and repair of 110/230/460 volt electrical equipment including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical control schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Minor programming and troubleshooting of VFDs and PLCs.
  • Understands and adheres to established safety programs (e.g., lock out/tag out, ladder safety).
  • Communicates effectively at all levels in the maintenance and operating departments.
  • Provides rapid response when equipment malfunctions or breaks down.
  • Ensures that all the equipment is ready prior to production.
  • Ensures the building is maintained in compliance with city and fire regulations.
  • Assists in coaching and training of maintenance and operating personnel.
  • Fabricates parts and modifies equipment as required.
  • Responsible for upholding, following, and maintaining the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing.
  • Other duties as may be assigned or volunteered for.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Possess good verbal and written language skills to interpret procedures and communicate effectively.
  • Be self‑motivated, a self‑starter, and self‑directed to work without close supervision in a team environment.
  • Hard‑working, dependable, safety and quality conscious.
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a food (USDA or FDA) manufacturing environment.
  • Available to work any shift, as required.
  • Proper and safe use of hand and power tools, and working on machinery.
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work standing or walking for long periods of time.
  • Work bending and squatting.
  • Work making fast and repetitive hand motions.
  • Work in cold refrigerated and frozen conditions.
  • Be able to push/pull heavy loads using hand jack.
  • Work at 25–30 ft elevations using a man‑lift.
  • Work on roof‑level equipment.
COMPENSATION

Annual Range/Hourly Rate: $30.00 – $32.00
