Job summary

KLA in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and develop next-generation PLC safety and control systems for our inspection tools. You will work on cross-disciplinary projects with physicists, engineers, and vendors in a hands-on, fast-moving environment.

You should have at least two years of PLC programming experience, expertise with Siemens TIA Portal, IEC 61131-3, and safety standards, plus readiness to travel up to 20% to install and support customer sites.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience required.
• Experience in PLC programming and automation to design safety systems.
• Strong understanding of IEC 61131-3, ISO 13849-1 safety standards.
• Experience with medium/large scale PLC systems and fieldbus protocols.
• Knowledge of SCADA integration and Ignition is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced PLC safety and control systems for inspection platforms.
• Gather requirements and deliver solutions across mechanical and electrical automation.
• Develop and maintain electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Define test strategies and validate safety-critical systems.
• Lead code and design reviews to ensure architectural alignment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Provide technical support during global customer site installations and commissioning.
