Job summary

The Marvin Group in California seeks a PLC and Automation Software Developer to design, test, and commission automation software using Studio 5000 for the Compact GuardLogix platform. The role focuses on shelter AC/DC PDU panels and excludes DC-converter work.

Responsibilities include developing PLC logic, integrating distributed I/O, preparing test procedures, and supporting commissioning with cross‑functional teams to ensure safe, reproducible deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation or related field.
• 4+ years hands-on PLC development in Studio 5000 with safety logic and Compact GuardLogix.
• Working knowledge of distributed I/O, EtherNet/IP, HMI, alarms and diagnostics, industrial communications, and commissioning.
• Ability to create software design notes, interface definitions, test procedures, release records, troubleshooting documentation, and cross‑functional handoffs.
• Experience with automation for power-distribution equipment or shelter PDU panels.
• Experience supporting factory acceptance testing, commissioning, fault isolation, production troubleshooting, and software release reviews.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Studio 5000 PLC and safety logic for Compact GuardLogix 5380 platform, including sequences, interlocks, modes, and fault handling.
• Configure and integrate distributed I/O and EtherNet/IP devices; implement data mapping, alarms, diagnostics, and HMI for operator control and troubleshooting.
• Maintain the verified boundary for planned shelter AC/DC PDU-panel automation; define interfaces without extending scope.
• Prepare and execute software simulations, bench tests, and factory acceptance testing; document test procedures, results, defects, resolutions, and release readiness.
• Support commissioning and troubleshooting with hardware, manufacturing, quality, and field personnel; ensure safe recovery and issue escalation.
• Apply disciplined software versioning, backup, baseline, change-control, and release practices; maintain records for reproducible deployments.
