Job summary

Dedham Health & Athletic Complex is seeking a responsible Part-Time Playroom Attendant to supervise children and create a safe, fun environment while guardians use our facilities. You will monitor activities, organize age-appropriate games, and maintain sign-in records.

The role requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to stay calm in a fast-paced setting. Shifts include weekdays and limited weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 15 years old.
• Prior experience with children in professional or volunteer settings preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay calm and patient in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor children in the playroom at all times.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
• Organize and facilitate games, crafts, and play activities appropriate for various age groups (typically ages 6 months to 10 years).
• Maintain accurate sign-in/sign-out records and verify parent/guardian identity.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with parents/guardians about their child’s experience or any issues.
• Clean toys, surfaces, and play equipment regularly according to safety protocols.
• Enforce facility rules and policies consistently and fairly.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Support the general operation of the facility, including light administrative or maintenance tasks as needed.

Working Conditions:

Shifts are Monday through Friday 8:30-1 and 4-8pm

Weekends Saturday and Sunday mornings 8:30-2pm

Weekend availability for birthday parties or kid's nights.

Interaction with children, parents, and other staff on a regular basis.
