Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools is seeking a part-time Playground Monitor for Marrion Elementary School in Vancouver, WA. The role covers playground supervision during specified hours and occasional cafeteria monitoring, with responsibilities to ensure student safety and well-being.

The monitor will report to the Principal, follow established playground rules, and complete injury and equipment reports as required. First Aid/CPR certification is required or must be obtained within 45 days.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively apply techniques in working with students in the area of behavior management.
• Must possess current First Aid/CPR certification, or be able to acquire within45 days.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Supervise and monitor students on the playground and surrounding areas until they return to their classroom(s), keeping students out of hallways, away from parking lots, bike racks, and other unsafe areas.
• Establish and maintain a safe and cooperative attitude on the playground.
• Understand and enforce the playground rules and procedures.
• Carry out discipline procedures as defined by the building principal.
• Record any student behavior that is not acceptable and/or appropriate.
• Identify unsafe playground equipment and submit a written report to the building principal outlining specific problems.
• Submit a written report of all playground injuries to the building principal as soon as they occur.
• Perform first aid/CPR when necessary.
