Job summary

University of San Francisco is seeking an Assistant Coach, Player Development for the men’s basketball program. The role focuses on individualized skill growth and long-term development of student-athletes, collaborating with coaching, strength and conditioning, and performance staff to create and implement personalized plans that boost on-court performance.

The position requires the ability to design workouts, analyze film, and mentor players while maintaining academic progress and NCAA

Qualifications

• 1 year of coaching experience or several years playing D1 at college or pro level.
• Expertise in individual skill instruction (shooting, ball-handling, footwork, finishing).
• Strong film breakdown and player analytics understanding.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with student-athletes.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualized skill development plans for each player based on position, role, and areas of improvement
• Conduct individual and small-group workouts (pre-practice, post-practice, and out-of-season)
• Analyze film to identify player tendencies, strengths, and areas for growth; deliver actionable feedback to the head coach/staff
• Track player progress through measurable benchmarks (shooting percentages, ball-handling metrics, etc.)
• Assist in practice planning and execution under direction of the Head Coach
• Support scouting and game-day preparation as assigned
• Mentor student-athletes on professional habits, work ethic, and career planning
• Assist with administrative duties as needed or as directed by the Head Coach
• Monitor the academic progress of select players assigned by the Head Coach
• Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations
