We Love Our Work
  • Provides information and assistance to customers in a friendly, courteous manner to ensure the delivery of guest service. Offer information on activities, etc., and direct guests for further information as necessary.
  • Create and enter player tracking cards on‑site, online, and digitally.
  • Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs.
  • Maintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
  • Exchange cash and coins in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain and reconcile bank for assigned shift, following established cash‑handling policies and procedures. Count down bank or window at end of each shift and reconcile.
  • Complete all required shift paperwork according to internal control standards.
  • Record any applicable cash transactions that are required by Federal Law.
  • Assist guests with credit applications.
  • Verify credit approval for racino departments, as well as process credit card applications.
  • Perform credit card cash advances.
  • Issue and receive payments.
  • Cash personal and travelers checks in compliance with approved procedures.
  • Process lottery transactions with approved procedures.
  • Efficiently and accurately process all pari‑mutuel wagers in the tote system.
  • Explain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guests.
  • Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for sports wagers in accordance with department policy and procedures and ensure compliance to applicable jurisdictional gaming statutes and regulations.
  • Write sports tickets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Knowledge of and enforcement of all gaming laws and regulations which apply to the functions and duties.
  • Manage guest situations; Respond promptly to guest needs; Seek guest feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance; Meet commitments.
  • Stock stations with adequate supplies; keep all stations neat and clean.

Qualifications
  • General cashiering background or prior money‑handling experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in race and sportsbook preferred.
  • Working knowledge of sports.
  • Knowledge of tote system to place customer bets.
  • Efficiency and accuracy when entering guests’ wagers and paying out winners.
  • Variances within standards according to department variance policy.
  • Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions when required.
  • Ability to learn and comply with department, property and regulatory policy and procedure.
  • Other duties, as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Possess ability to operate an adding machine and have basic computer skills.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Penn National Gaming’s auto insurance carrier.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces. Team Members must be drug free.

Work Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • All Team Members at Hollywood are under surveillance and audio surveillance in limited areas. Performance may be observed and recorded.
  • Employee could be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted second‑hand tobacco smoke.
