Job summary

Desert Mountain Club in North Scottsdale, AZ, is seeking a Player Assistant for the 2026-2027 season. You will greet Members/Guests, manage tee times, and ensure a world-class golf experience in a private club setting.

Role emphasizes hospitality, etiquette, and precise logging of player information. 18+ required; prior experience a plus. Seasonal position with extensive benefits and a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet golfers warmly and guide them to the tee.
  • Ensure players arrive and tee off on time.
  • Explain golf etiquette and daily course information.
  • Maintain starter areas and keep logs of cart numbers and players.
  • Enter starting times and names into the GPS system.
  • Assist with keeping scorecards, pencils, tees available.
  • Attend mandatory golf meetings and support course events.
  • Report any violations to the manager on duty.

Join the Golf team at one of the largest private country clubs in North America with seven beautiful golf courses as a Player Assistant!

Season: October 2026 – May 2027
Starting Pay: $20.00/hour

In this role, you will be responsible for setting the tone for the golf experience by extending a warm and informative greeting to Members/Guests at the start of every round. This position enforces all Club rules related to golf while maintaining an orderly flow of play that ensures all players arrive to the first tee by their assigned starting time. The Player Assistant consistently engages with our clientele in a professional and positive manner and remains committed to providing a world‑class service experience that aligns with the Club’s standard of excellence.

The ideal candidate will be a team player possessing exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; A professional who is passionate about golf and delivering world‑class service. Prior experience in a high‑end golf operation is preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age and have working knowledge of proper golf etiquette.

JOB DETAILS
Responsibilities:
  • Provide a professional and enthusiastic greeting while addressing all golfers upon their arrival to the tee.
  • Practice and promote name recognition.
  • Ensure that all players arrive and tee off at their designated starting time.
  • Clearly communicate proper golf etiquette, daily golf cart instructions, and any relevant course information for the day to all players.
  • Uphold all Club rules related to the golf course as they are defined by Desert Mountain’s Rules and Regulations. Address any violations politely and report infractions to the manager on duty.
  • Maintain a precise log of cart numbers being used and player names present in each group.
  • Accurately record each golfer’s chosen method of transportation for the round (walking, riding, walking cart, etcetera).
  • Enter starting time and player name information into the PACE GPS system.
  • Reconcile the tee sheet with golf shop personnel both throughout and at the end of each day.
  • Keep the starter areas clean. Pick up any refuse and alert the manager of any maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a sufficient supply of scorecards, pencils, tees and other essential items needed to facilitate the golfer experience.
  • Ensure the practice green(s) and surrounding areas are neat and orderly by actively picking up golf balls and/or any baskets/bags (Chiricahua and Outlaw courses only).
  • Maintain familiarity with course schedules and any current / upcoming event happenings via Club communications and information shared by Golf Leadership.
  • Attend mandatory golf meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Required to work in an outdoor working environment – Regularly
  • Exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather – Regularly
  • Required to lift and/or up to 50 pounds – Frequently
  • Required to push and/or pull up to 50 pounds – Occasionally
  • Required to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Required to stand for long periods of time.
