Job summary

Occidental College's Child Development Center seeks a Substitute Preschool Teacher to cover in classrooms for ages 2-5. This on-call, part-time role supports Lead teachers, with 11 months duration and potential extension. Requires a minimum of 12 semester units in Child Development and at least 1 year of preschool experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 semester units in Child Development including the 3 core courses.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a play-based preschool setting.
• Understanding of basic Child Development theories and practices.
• Familiarity with Title 22 Regulations and accident/incident reporting.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative preschool team.

Responsibilities

• 40% supervision of children and safety monitoring in the classroom.
• 35% assist with general classroom and Center-wide duties and record-keeping.
• 10% nurture communication with parents and positive classroom environment.
• 15% assist with curriculum implementation and daily activities setup/cleanup.
