Job summary

At Noveon Magnetics, a leading magnetics manufacturer, a Plating Technician on 2nd shift is sought to support electroplating and corrosion-resistance coating processes on pilot and production lines. The role involves working with plating engineers, recording data, and ensuring coating quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist plating engineer in developing wet processes and testing procedures to produce high quality coatings.
• Assist in processing production work orders and recording data.
• Perform visual inspections and control plating thickness and product quality.
• Maintain plating bath chemistries including titrations and pH measurements.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment deficiencies timely.
• Manage storage of materials, reports, corrosion tests and data analysis.
• Work with senior engineers to run experiments and implement improvements on the plating line.
• Support QC team in sampling analysis for process and product quality.

Job Title: Plating Technician (2nd Shift)

Reports to: Coating Manager

Location: San Marcos, Texas

About This Role

Noveon Magnetics is looking for someone who has 3+ years of experience in surface finishing for direct manufacturing and commercialization. Expertise in electroplating metals and metallic alloys in aqueous solutions, pre-treatment, cleaning, pickling, Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu, epoxy etc., and diagnosis and failure analysis of coatings.

We need this person to assist in electroplating and corrosion-resistance plating processes on pilot and production lines at Noveon. These processes will be instrumental in properly applying corrosion-resistant coatings to Noveon products.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting the plating engineer in developing wet processes, as well as related racking and testing procedures to produce high quality coatings and plating on magnet products.
• Assisting in processing production work orders, as well as recording and reporting of data.
• Performing visual inspections, control plating thickness, and product quality.
• Maintaining proper plating bath chemistries including, performance of chemical titrations, basic controller, and measurement operations.
• Performing regular preventive maintenance work and recording and reporting equipment deficiencies in a timely manner.
• Managing storage of materials, supplies, reports, corrosion tests, data, and data analysis.
• Working with senior engineers to run experiments and help implement improvements and modifications to the plating line.
• Supporting the QC team in sampling analysis for process and product quality.

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Has a basic understanding of pretreatment and wet processes for coating and plating.
• Knows how to use excel to create and populate production data.
• Possesses knowledge of safe methods of handling materials and chemicals.
• Is comfortable with measurement equipment such as micrometers, pH meters, and measuring scopes.
• Has an Associate degree with 2+ years of work experience.
• Has experience with wet processes for coating/plating Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu and epoxy is preferred.
• Has experience with chemical titrations is preferred.
• Can follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with minimum supervision from managers and/or peers.
• Is able to move up to 50lbs.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical and, if applicable, visual testing.
• Able to move up to 50lbs.
• Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
• Can wear PPE.
• Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
• Is capable of making repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.
