Job Title: Process Technician – Machining & Optimization Reports to: Process Engineering Manager

Location: San Marcos, Texas We have one goal: to manufacture quality magnets! We are looking for exceptional individuals who want to learn, build, and lay a foundation for our company for the years to come.

About this role

The Process Technician – Machining & Optimization is an autonomous, technically advanced role responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated machining lines. Beyond day-to-day operation of multiwire slicing and precision grinding equipment, you will act as a key bridge between the production floor and the engineering team. You will independently diagnose process bottlenecks, execute experimental trials, perform hands‑on equipment repairs, and optimize machine recipes to drive higher yield, tighter tolerances, and minimized material waste.

What good is a job without great benefits to reward your hard work? What We Have To Offer:
  • Competitive Base
  • Medical/Dental/Vision insurance on day 1 of employment
  • Health Saving Account (HSA) with Employer contribution
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401(k) retirement plan and match program
  • Long Term Disability (Employer Paid)
  • Short Term Disability (Employer Paid)

Diversity

At Noveon Magnetics, we believe our diversity makes us who we are, and we strive every day to build a culture where everyone feels welcome.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Process Optimization & Recipe Management: Reviewing, adjusting, and optimizing machine programs and process "recipes" (e.g., wire speed, feed rates, tension controls, grinding wheel profiles) to achieve maximum product yield and throughput.
  • DOE & Engineering Support: Partnering with engineers to set up and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs). Run structured trials on new wire types, abrasive wheels, slurries, or magnet geometries, meticulously documenting the outcomes.
  • Equipment Repair & Maintenance: Independently diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults on slicing and grinding assets. Performing hands‑on repairs, rebuilding assemblies, and modifying equipment setups to sustain high performance and minimize operational downtime.
  • Independent Problem Solving: Proactively analyzing production data and machine performance to identify root causes of process drift, visual defects, or component wear. Developing and implementing localized solutions to improve structural quality.
  • Change Control & Documentation: Authoring and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Formally documenting all process changes, recipe updates, and maintenance actions within the engineering log and inventory systems to maintain strict quality control.
  • Precision Quality Control: Utilizing micrometers, calipers, and optical measurement systems to verify tight geometric tolerances against blueprints, ensuring full material traceability.
We are Looking for Someone Who:
  • Has a High school diploma or GED required. A technical certification, vocational training, or an Associate’s degree in advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or mechanical technology is highly preferred.
  • Possesses 3–5+ years of experience in high-precision manufacturing, technical machining, or process optimization. Direct experience repairing or tuning multiwire saws or precision grinding systems is highly desirable.
  • Is knowledgeable with structured problem-solving methodologies and experience participating in or executing engineering DOEs.
  • Is able to work independently with minimal supervision, manage competing priorities on the floor, and take ownership of technical issues from diagnosis through resolution.
  • Can demonstrate strong mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
  • Can demonstrate excellent written communication skills for detailing engineering changes, drafting maintenance logs, and updating production teams on recipe modifications.
Work Environment:
  • Able to move up to 50lbs.
  • Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Can wear PPE.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and working around machinery for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
  • Is capable of making repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.
