The Vehicle System Architecture team at Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies owns the vehicle-level mechatronic architecture from concept to production. You will translate product intent into architecture, define model-based pipelines, and drive reliability through design reviews and data-backed decisions.

You will lead trade studies, develop meta-models and tooling, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, auditable architecture across programs.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Aerospace or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 12+ years in automotive, aerospace or electromechanical systems engineering with full program cycle owning architecture decisions.
• Strong first-principles and stack-up modelling experience; AI assistance is welcome, not required.
• Fluency across at least two domains: E/E architecture, vehicle controls SW, thermal and packaging.
• Worst-case and tolerance analysis (WCCA, Monte Carlo, DOE) applied to real designs.
• Strong Python; comfortable in C++ or Julia/Modelica; git-native.
• Ability to bind ambiguous asks into decisions and defend them with numbers.

Responsabilités

• Own the Vehicle Architecture for a platform program: controllers and placement, functional allocation across ECUs, LV/HV distribution concept, sensor and actuator distribution, packaging, temperature/environmental and NVH constraints — from concept through production release.
• Lead architecture trade studies with quantified outcomes: cost, mass, range, power, temperature, NVH, complexity, reliability and manufacturability. Derive the cost functions.
• Cost-down by subtraction before optimization: prove which controllers, harness runs, sensors and requirements can be removed.
• Translate ambiguous partner asks into architecture decisions and defend the rationale at program gates.
• Align architecture to technology roadmaps — evaluate when to adopt new tech and its costs to the platform.
• Close the loop with the physical vehicle: define tests that validate models and own each model's error budget.
