Job summary

Amazon is seeking a System Development Engineer II to join the Platform Engineering and Emerging Technologies team. You will design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure for WorkSpaces, delivering a highly available platform for large-scale workloads. The role requires building resilient systems and contributing to cloud infrastructure used by U.S.

Government work. Applicants must have an active TS/SCI with polygraph and be able to obtain ongoing clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
• Experience with distributed systems at scale
• Experience with Linux/Unix

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly-available and resilient platform for our customers’ and our team’s workloads.
• This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for two weeks in every quarter. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.
