Job summary

Nordstrom’s Technologies division seeks a skilled software engineer to build a new platform of APIs and web applications for inventory management. You will own development from design to production, working with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Expect cloud-native challenges across AWS/Azure/GCP, and PL/SQL integration with Oracle. You will join an Enterprise Inventory Ingress team focused on Store Inventory Management, Transfers, Receiving, and more.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in the practice area.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or related experience.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and a strong point of view on how agents can accelerate design, coding, and testing workflows.
• Experience analyzing, designing, coding, testing, installing and maintaining complex software programs.
• Knowledge of Java and Java Springboot framework; other languages like Python, JavaScript, C# are a plus.
• Strong grasp of multiple tech stacks across systems.
• Experience with Backend RDBMS (Oracle) or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with RESTful architecture and microservices; JSON/XML.
• Experience with AWS services is required.
• Curiosity for AI, automation, and new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative solutions to drive Nordstrom business.
• Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code for cloud-native apps.
• Lead CI/CD, cloud migration, and test-driven development.
• Collaborate in SCRUM, perform peer code reviews, and provide feedback.
• Transition from development to production support when needed.
• Plan, build, and deploy applications to production environments.
• Stay current with industry trends and apply them to architecture.
