Flexion Inc., a Madison, WI-based IT Consulting and Services firm, is seeking a Platform/Software Engineer for a long-term consulting project. The client is based in Madison, WI, but remote work within the United States is possible.

The ideal candidate will work on a Platform Services team, focusing on private cloud service delivery or infrastructure solutions across public (AWS, GCP, Azure) and private cloud environments, supporting on-premise infrastructure with an emphasis on infrastructure as code for application hosting services.

Responsibilities include:

1. Developing, enhancing, and maintaining tools, systems, and software solutions.
2. Integrating, testing systems, solutions, or products.
3. Performing incident triage and making recommendations for remediation.
4. Conducting technology evaluations and re-engineering activities.
5. Building relationships with peers through collaborative engineering initiatives.
6. Designing and implementing automated development solutions.
7. Ensuring solutions are integrated and architectural models are validated.
8. Responding to system/solution changes with agility.
9. Analyzing gaps and leading outage mitigation efforts.
10. Implementing service catalog automation with enterprise partners.

Required skills and experience:

• Experience providing customer-driven solutions and support.
• Minimum three years in DevOps roles with cloud platforms.
• Minimum three years in Software Engineering.
• Understanding of SDLC processes.
• Knowledge of infrastructure and application technologies.
• System Administration and Network Management experience.
• Experience with integration protocols between applications and databases.

Preferred additional experience:

• Automation of infrastructure with tools like Ansible, Puppet, Terraform.
• Scripting in PowerShell, Python, or UNIX Shell.
• OS hardening and deployment templating.
• Linux and Windows systems engineering.
• Backup and recovery solutions.
• Application server and middleware solutions.
• Migration and securing of applications in public clouds.

The hourly pay rate is approximately $55-65/hr.
