Job summary

Talently is seeking a Director of Engineering Platform Services to build a platform organization from the ground up, defining its technical vision, architecture, engineering standards, and operating model for scalable B2C and future B2B services. This remote leadership role blends hands-on engineering with strategic direction, partnering across Product, Engineering, and CloudOps.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of technical leadership experience
• 8+ years of people management experience
• Experience leading Platform Services or shared platform environments
• Deep expertise in platform, service-oriented, microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native architecture
• Strong API design and scalable APIs
• Hands‑on with asynchronous messaging, SQL/NoSQL, high‑traffic systems
• Cloud-native apps using AWS/GCP, DevOps, Kubernetes, Docker, IaC
• Reliability, observability, security, performance engineering, testing, resiliency
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or engineering

Responsibilities

• Define long-term Platform Services strategy and align with priorities
• Build and scale a new platform organization with architecture, standards, and reusable capabilities
• Design scalable services, APIs, and integration patterns across brands and products
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across system design and reviews
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, CloudOps and business stakeholders to roadmaps
• Hire, mentor and develop engineering teams while improving productivity
• Drive operational excellence with reliability, security, observability, testing, DR
• Lead incident response and drive engineering metrics and modernization initiatives
