Saildrone is seeking a Manager, Mechanical Engineering to join our Hardware Engineering organization in Alameda, CA. You will lead the mechanical design team and serve as the primary technical authority for platform developments from early architecture through production handoff.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• 10+ years designing complex electro-mechanical hardware and structures.
• 3+ years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Experience as Platform Lead or Technical PM for hardware from prototype to production.
• Experience interpreting marine regulatory frameworks (ABS, DNV GL, BV) with shipyards or manufacturers.
• Advanced CAD modeling, drafting standards, GD&T, multi-configuration BOM management.
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing for rapid prototype validation.
• Strong communication and decision-making in fast-paced environments.

Responsabilidades

• Platform leadership and system ownership from prototype to production handoff.
• Lead vehicle-level execution streams and cadences across cross-functional teams.
• Oversee design execution for electro-mechanical subs and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with shipyards, contract manufacturers, and NPI teams for DFM and handoffs.
• Maintain BOM accuracy and CAD standards across the group.
• Prototype, test, and monitor mechanical risks with vibration, thermal cycling.
• Recruit, mentor, and build a high-performing mechanical engineering team.
