Job summary

Synergy is seeking a Lead Platform Developer to own architecture, scalability, and reliability of the core platform. You will lead a small team of engineers, define platform standards, and build highly available services and tooling that accelerate product teams.

This role blends hands-on development with technical leadership. You will mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and drive engineering best practices while collaborating across product, SRE, security, and QA to deliver platform

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of software engineering experience with platform or distributed systems focus.
• Proficient in at least one backend language (C#/.NET, Java/Kotlin, Go, Node.js, Python).
• Strong experience with cloud, containers, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on with IaC and environment management.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, observability, and data pipelines.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and Kafka.
• API design with REST/GraphQL/gRPC and testing.
• Security depth and secrets management.
• Data platform familiarity and SRE practices.
• Knowledge of SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FedRAMP.
• Performance tuning and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform architecture: design and evolve cloud-native, multi-tenant, secure platform components.
• Lead the team: mentor engineers, reviews, improve engineering practices.
• Build platform capabilities: authentication/authorization, service discovery, configuration, observability, DX pipelines.
• Reliability at scale: implement SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, chaos testing; healthcare benchmarking.
• Security by design: secure coding, secrets management, dependency hygiene, compliance needs.
• Data platform collaboration: partner with data teams on streaming and warehousing.
• Technical strategy: set roadmaps, deprecate legacy systems, modernization guidance.
• Cross-functional collaboration: work with product engineering, SRE, security, QA, architecture.
• Incident leadership: lead severity incidents, postmortems, preventive improvements.
