Saber is seeking a Platform Lead to architect our AI platform from the ground up and to build the engineering team that will bring it to life.

The role covers architecture, security, and infrastructure, sets engineering standards, leads governance, and requires breadth across distributed systems, cloud data, and AI.

You will guide production systems end-to-end and mentor engineers to deliver scalable, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software and data engineering experience.
• 3+ years at staff, principal, or lead level with architecture responsibility.
• Production systems end-to-end experience from design to deployment at scale.
• Experience architecting and operating a cloud data platform (Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Production experience with applications backed by LLMs (Claude, GPT).
• Experience designing secure data systems with HIPAA knowledge preferred.
• Experience mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams.

Lead the build: Architect Saber's AI platform from the ground up and build the engineering team that brings it to life.

Position Summary:

The Platform Lead has technical responsibility for the Company's AI, internal applications, and automations, built as an agentic harness over a governed data foundation. The role is responsible for their architecture, security, and infrastructure, makes key architecture decisions, leads AI governance, and sets the engineering standards the team works to. The role demands breadth across distributed systems, cloud data architecture, agentic AI, security, and application engineering, with deep expertise in several of these areas. The primary duties of this position involve the performance of work requiring advanced knowledge in a field of science/learning, which require the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.

Education/Qualifications:

• Must have a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field of science/learning, or advanced knowledge of same through ten (10) or more years of demonstrated equivalent engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

• Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel.

Experience:

• Ten (10) or more years of professional software and data engineering experience, including three (3) or more years operating at a staff, principal, or lead level with formal responsibility for architecture and for leading engineering teams.

• Demonstrated record of being responsible for one (1) or more production systems end to end, from architecture through deployment, operation, and ongoing evolution, at meaningful scale.

• Hands-on experience architecting and operating a cloud data platform (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks) in production, including responsibility for cost and performance. Experience with more than one (1) such platform, or formal experience evaluating and selecting between platforms, is strongly preferred, as this role leads the platform-selection decision.

• Production experience building applications backed by large language models (e.g., Claude, GPT), including retrieval, tool use, and evaluation.

• Experience designing systems that handle sensitive or regulated data, with direct responsibility for the security and access-control model. Healthcare (HIPAA) experience is strongly preferred.

• Experience managing and mentoring engineers, including hiring, performance management, and building a high-performing team.
