Job summary

Shield AI, a defense-tech company, seeks an experienced software engineer to build the foundation for autonomous systems. You will develop and integrate core software and platform infrastructure powering mission-critical technology, collaborating across teams from development to deployment.

You will own platform integration across SIL, HIL, VIL, and edge workflows, build reference workspaces, and improve stability and scalability for customers and products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in software engineering for robotics/autonomy/embedded platforms.
• Strong C++ and Python; experience building developer tools and orchestration.
• Experience debugging across Linux-based systems, hardware interfaces, deployments; oscilloscope/ logic analyzer usage.
• BS or MS in Engineering/CS.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous areas and drive cross-functional integration.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own platform integration across SIL, HIL, VIL, and edge deployment workflows.
• Build and maintain reference work spaces and tooling to accelerate development and testing.
• Integrate platform-level software across hardware, sensors, controllers, APIs, and fleet management.
• Support embedded platform bring-up across developer boards and test platforms.
• Improve platform stability, API quality, and developer experience for mission-critical products.
• Partner with autonomy, hardware, product, and program teams to close gaps.
