Job summary

HP is seeking a Platform Firmware Architect to oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of robust firmware systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and deliver scalable solutions, guiding validation plans and ensuring reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline; commensurate experience.
• 7–10 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming, or related field.
• 8+ years firmware development / architecture experience; BIOS/UEFI and embedded systems expertise.
• Docking Station and Notebook PC architecture knowledge.
• USB-C / Power Delivery experience.
• USB, PCIe, I2C familiarity.
• Security firmware experience.
• ODM collaboration experience.

Platform Firmware Architect

Description - This role is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust and scalable software systems. The role collaborates with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and project managers, to create solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure and deliver value to end-users. The role ensures the efficiency, reliability, and performance of software systems. The role provides guidance to other team members on developing validation execution plans for new technologies.

4-days a week in-office requirement

Responsibilities

• Oversees the installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Monitors and tests application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions, and works with developers to implement those fixes.
• Optimizes software systems for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency to ensure optimal user experience.
• Gathers all the system engineering requirements for the infrastructure components by working with engineering groups and other stakeholders.
• Leads multiple project teams of other software systems engineers responsible for all stages of design and development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
• Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
• Provides domain-specific expertise and overall software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the software systems design organization.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Education & Experience Recommended

Bachelor's in computer science, Information Systems, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
