Job Description

Vertex is seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Platform Experience Product Manager to lead the delivery of the connected tax platform experience. This role is responsible for orchestrating Vertex products into a unified, intuitive, and seamless customer experience, eliminating the friction of disparate logins, data re-entry, and inconsistent interfaces across the Vertex product portfolio. This individual will partner closely with Engineering, UX, Architecture, and Product teams to translate business and customer requirements into engineer-ready specifications and deliver a scalable, cohesive platform experience. The ideal candidate combines strong technical communication skills, sound product judgment, and the ability to navigate and prioritize across multiple competing product teams. This role operates with significant autonomy within a collaborative, execution-focused product management organization.

COMMENTS: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals in this position. Other functions may be assigned, and management retains the right to add or change the duties at any time.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate the delivery of a unified, seamless platform experience across Vertex products; serve as the connective layer between commercial strategy, engineering execution, and UX design to eliminate customer friction across the product portfolio.

  • Translate business and customer requirements into engineer-ready specifications with appropriate technical specificity, including volume, security, and deployment considerations; bridge the gap between strategic intent and technical implementation.

  • Lead platform feature development from ideation through launch; define detailed acceptance criteria and partner directly with engineering teams to ensure delivery against requirements.

  • Navigate competing priorities across multiple product teams; negotiate trade-offs decisively to establish clear sequencing and ensure the platform roadmap reflects the highest-value customer experience improvements.

  • Partner with UX and Engineering teams to design and deliver intuitive, consistent platform experiences; ensure coherence across platform services, applications, and customer-facing workflows in an Agile development environment.

  • Use data and KPIs to guide product decisions and measure the impact of platform features and releases against business and customer experience objectives.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for the connected platform experience; engage directly with customers and partners to understand pain points and validate that delivered solutions meet intended outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience with a demonstrated track record in SaaS or cloud-based solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and customer requirements into engineer-ready specifications with appropriate technical specificity; baseline fluency in APIs, agile development, and software architecture sufficient to communicate credibly with engineering teams.

  • Proven ability to navigate competing priorities across multiple product teams; track record of decisive trade-off negotiation and clear sequencing decisions in complex, multi-product environments.

  • Strong experience partnering with UX and Engineering teams to design and deliver intuitive, consistent platform experiences; ability to align cross-functional stakeholders and drive execution across competing priorities.

  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated proficiency using data and KPIs to guide product decisions and measure feature and business impact.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present priorities, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to both technical and leadership audiences.

  • Highly organized and self-directed; demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience defining and delivering SaaS platform capabilities, including shared services, platform APIs, or multi-product integration.

  • Experience working across multi-product ecosystems or within a platform product organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
