Job summary

Zocdoc is seeking a seasoned Platform Engineering leader to own and scale a portfolio of backend platforms, AI development tools, and shared services. You’ll drive multi-year strategy, prioritize bets, and partner with executives to align platform work with engineering velocity, reliability, and cost efficiency.

You’ll lead through managers, shape operating standards, and create guardrails for AI-assisted development while partnering across Engineering, Compliance, Security, and Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development and platform experience.
• 4+ years leading multiple engineering teams, including through managers.
• Expertise in platform domains, distributed systems, and reliable delivery.
• Experience evaluating or integrating AI tooling with governance.
• Proven ability to align technical work with business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own portfolio strategy, roadmap, and investment decisions for Platform Engineering.
• Lead through managers and senior engineers to scale leadership depth.
• Partner with Engineering, Compliance, Security, and Infrastructure.
• Define guardrails and execution plans for major technical bets.
• Drive adoption, measure outcomes, and improve reliability and security.
• Align internal customers and stakeholders around a coherent platform strategy.
• Build a psychologically safe, inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Ensure platforms are treated as products with measurable impact.
