Job summary

DroneUp, LLC is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering to own the strategy, team, and execution for a cloud-native, self-service internal platform. You will lead a team delivering secure, scalable components and enable AI-assisted development tools across engineering.

You will balance security, compliance, and developer experience while driving architectural excellence and rapid delivery in a fast-paced tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience as a software engineer is preferred.
• Proven track record of leading engineering teams in fast-paced tech environments.
• Extensive experience in software development, architecture, and technical leadership.
• Strong understanding of product ownership principles and balancing technical decisions with business priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive platform engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
• Serve as internal Product Owner for the platform, focusing on developer experience through tooling and automation.
• Define the technical vision and oversee design/architecture of scalable, secure platform components and services.
• Identify, prioritize, and drive platform features based on internal customer needs and data.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their potential value to the platform.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leaders to define technical initiatives and ensure alignment.
• Communicate platform strategy and progress to executive leadership and stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement in platform engineering processes and foster a collaborative culture.
• Ensure engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance are consistently applied.
• Monitor platform performance, reliability, and scalability; address challenges proactively.
