Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Platform Engineer to join a secure production environment. You will work on Kubernetes-based platforms, IaC automation, and security-focused delivery, interfacing with application teams and platform teams to align implementations with business goals.

Expect travel 10-25% and a role focusing on cloud-native tech across AWS/GCP, Terraform/Pulumi, and CI/CD tooling. A strong emphasis on DevSecOps and DoD compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required.
• DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
• Strong Kubernetes, GCP, Docker experience.
• Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Ansible) and shell basics.
• Proficient with YAML and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with Agile in a remote environment.
• Ability to work independently and communicate across teams.
• Security automation and DevSecOps experience.
• Experience with DoD production Authority to Operate (ATO) systems.

Responsibilities

• Automate and build a runtime Production Environment and serve as a bridge between Applications and the Production Environment.
• Validate solutions and implementations against business requirements.
• Independently problem solve and develop small components for challenges.
• Understand medium-level tasks and collaborate across teams to integrate components.
• Estimate time and effort for medium-sized tasks and assist in planning.
