Job summary

Benchling, the AI platform for biotech R&D, is hiring a Developer Experience leader in the Boston area. You’ll build tooling to improve developer productivity across the Path to Production, partnering with Platform and Release Engineering teams to ship high-quality software.

We’re looking for 4+ years of software engineering, experience with Node or Python, and a product-first mindset. This role follows a flexible hybrid model with on-site 3 days per week to collaborate with teammates in person.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Shipping code quickly with product impact.
• Experience with at least one web framework (Node or Python).
• Strong problem-solving and feedback iteration skills.
• Ownership mindset and delivering core product pieces.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement tooling for efficient development, testing, and packaging for production release.
• Lead the design of release tooling enabling production within 10 minutes.
• Iterate on developer experience using qualitative and quantitative feedback.
• Implement feedback loops that integrate quality into workflows.
• Champion effective engineering and operational patterns across the org.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve engineering workflows and happiness.
• Work with product, design, and peers to make Benchling a delightful place to develop software.
• Scale product and team; mature tooling, processes, and hiring.
