Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners LLC seeks an Engineering Manager (Developer Experience) to build and lead a DevEx team. This hands-on leadership role blends backend engineering, platform thinking, and AI-enabled workflows to improve the software lifecycle in a cloud-native environment.

You will drive platform initiatives, mentor engineers, and partner with cross-functional teams to raise developer productivity and deliver production-ready tooling at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 2+ years in Engineering Manager/Technical Lead roles.
• Strong backend software engineering background.
• Background in Backend Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevEx or related fields.
• Experience leading projects from design to production.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern software delivery.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Experience with or understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Familiarity with build tools like Maven, Gradle, or Nx.
• Experience with automated testing and software quality practices.
• Understanding of observability for apps and infra.
• Experience in cloud-based, fast-moving environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Interest in applying AI to software development processes.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a new Developer Experience team with Backend and DevOps engineers.
• Drive technical strategy to boost developer productivity.
• Identify bottlenecks and develop tools, automation, and platforms.
• Lead platform initiatives from design to production rollout.
• Establish standards across CI/CD, Kubernetes, IaC, build systems, testing and observability.
• Partner with Engineering, Platform, Infrastructure and DevOps teams.
• Define and implement an AI-driven software development lifecycle.
• Evaluate new tech and automation to improve effectiveness.
• Mentor engineers while contributing to technical discussions and reviews.
• Create a scalable, self-service platform for faster delivery.
