Job summary

Numeric in San Francisco is hiring for a Platform Engineer to accelerate our internal infrastructure, deploys, and developer tooling. You will own the end-to-end deployment and environment parity, enabling engineers and AI agents to ship changes safely and quickly.

You will work with AWS, OpenTofu/Terraform, Spacelift, and CI/CD tooling to improve observability, security, and developer experience in a fast-growing fintech-adjacent platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering with a focus on infrastructure/platform work.
• Strong AWS, IaC, CI/CD, and Linux/container fundamentals.
• Proficient in TypeScript and Python.
• Experience with internal tooling or developer productivity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deployment process: gated deploys with automated schema migrations and trusted promotion.
• Environments & parity: reliable local and remote dev environments with sandbox/preview environments.
• Agent-First development: MCP gateways, governance, cost management, and foundation model selection.
• Infrastructure-as-code: Spacelift/OpenTofu, drift remediation, consolidate to AWS, easy-to-follow IaC standards.
• Repo standards & ownership: linting, testing hierarchy, ownership manifests, onboarding registry, and internal portal.
• Observability foundations: tracing/logging/metrics, Datadog cost hygiene, incident-management maturity.
• Security & access: secrets/config management, SSO, IAM scoping, audit logging.
• AI Internal tools hosting: Numeric Labs for internal tools deployment.
