Job summary

The University of Chicago's Center for Translational Data Science is seeking a Temporary Platform Engineer to join the PlanX initiative. This role blends infrastructure and code to optimize hybrid and cloud workloads, focusing on AWS EKS and ArgoCD pipelines while contributing to backend and frontend code as needed.

Ideal candidates bring strong Full-Stack capabilities with Python or Go, solid Next.js frontend experience, and hands-on cloud architecture skills including Lambda.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with containerization/orchestration (AWS EKS) and ArgoCD.
• Strong Python and/or Go backend development and Next.js frontend exposure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters using AWS EKS and drive GitOps with ArgoCD.
• Develop and review backend and frontend components in Python/Go and Next.js.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines across AWS cloud environments.
• Triage production incidents and monitor platform health to ensure reliability.
