Job summary

Hightower Advisors is seeking a Platform Engineer in Chicago to own the connective tissue across the company’s technology platform. You will translate workflows and integration needs into clear specs, connecting cloud services, APIs, and internal tools.

You’ll work with product, operations, and data teams to move ideas from prototype to reliable production. You will design event-driven solutions, map end-to-end processes, and ensure quality through testing, reviews, and production readiness

Qualifications

• 3–5 years building integrations, internal tools, or full-stack apps in a professional engineering environment.
• Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript and React/Next.js; working knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Experience designing reliable data and event flows across APIs, queues, databases, and external platforms.
• Comfort with prompt engineering, AI-assisted development, and agent-assisted automation.
• Self-directed, design-minded with ability to clarify workflows and define acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Create integration designs across AWS, Salesforce, Snowflake, and third‑party platforms with clear specs.
• Identify workflow automation opportunities and drive end‑to‑end implementation.
• Define UX and functional requirements for internal tools and dashboards; review deliverables for standards.
• Design event‑driven solutions using AWS primitives and hold teams to the design.
• Map end‑to‑end processes with stakeholders and define acceptance criteria before implementation.
• Set quality standards and ensure production readiness and accountability.
