Platform Engineer / Architect

Our client is seeking experienced Platform Engineers / Architects to contribute to a unified software engineering culture that combines Application Development and Operations. The role involves engineering solutions to maximize code release throughput through automated, secure, and portable tools and functions.

Role Details

• Location: Washington, DC, Hybrid
• Duration: 12 months
• Experience Level: 10+ Years

Responsibilities

• Participate in analysis, design, development, and testing of DevOps components.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (administration and development) is required.
• Conduct design and scripting reviews to ensure adherence to standards and guidelines.
• Assist in creating or updating enterprise standards as needed.
• Support issue resolution, scalability, integration, and critical production issues.
• Follow best practices and escalate issues appropriately.
• Adhere to architecture and design best practices under guidance from senior engineers and architects.
• Assist in configuration and scripting for automated infrastructure provisioning, image builds, and deployment.
• Follow change control and configuration management practices.
• Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation to support the platform.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong drive and desire to automate processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure scripting, and programming.
• Linux/Unix OS experience.
• Kubernetes expertise.
• KCNA, CKA, and/or CKAD certifications are highly preferred.
• Experience with Kubernetes in an enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (OpenStack, Azure, AWS), containerization (Docker), deployment tools (Ansible, Chef, Terraform), and CI/CD tools (ArgoCD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
