Job summary

Capital on Tap in London is seeking a Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve our secure cloud foundation. You’ll work with Terraform on Azure, manage identity and secrets, and coordinate edge, networking and AI infrastructure with the product teams.

Join a fast‑moving team delivering a cost‑efficient, scalable platform across multi‑cloud and CI/CD pipelines. This hybrid role requires 2 days in the office at Old Street.

Qualifications

Experience managing public cloud environments, ideally Azure.
Terraform IaC experience; Kubernetes and Docker hands-on.
Strong networking knowledge; cloud IAM and secrets management.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
Proficiency in Go, Rust, PowerShell or Python.
Interest in AI and ability to automate repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain Azure foundations using Terraform with reusable modules.
Manage network and edge components including Cloudflare, Istio, Cato.
Handle cloud identity, RBAC and secret management.
Automate infrastructure and patching with reliable cadence.
Develop infrastructure CI/CD pipelines and build agents.
Contribute to AI infrastructure access via Foundry, Anthropic and OpenAI.
Support AI/MCP gateway, routing and authentication for AI tools.
Enforce security, observability and cost controls across cloud platform.
Collaborate with Database Eng, SRE and Developer Enablement on shared infra.
Write documentation and maintain infra standards.

Core Infrastructure at Capital on Tap

Core Infrastructure’s mission is to build a secure, patched, cost-efficient cloud foundation, provisioned entirely as code. We own the cloud, network, identity and infrastructure delivery that every product team at Capital on Tap runs on. It’s a big year for the team: we’re consolidating how we manage access and secrets, modernising our edge, moving to GitHub and exploring a multi-cloud future.

We’re also building the infrastructure behind AI at Capital on Tap, connecting our engineers and products to models from Anthropic and OpenAI securely and at scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

Build and maintain our Azure foundations using Terraform, including reusable infrastructure modules and a standard Kubernetes baseline.
Help run our network and edge, including Cloudflare, Istio and Cato.
Manage cloud identity and access, including RBAC, managed identities and service-to-service authentication.
Help consolidate secret and certificate management into a single, automated pattern.
Automate infrastructure and core container patching so it runs on a reliable, fixed cadence.
Build and maintain infrastructure CI/CD pipelines, templates and build agents.
Help build and run our AI infrastructure, including model access through Microsoft Foundry, Anthropic and OpenAI.
Support our AI and MCP gateway layer, managing access, routing and authentication for AI tools and agents.
Apply the same security, identity and observability standards to AI services as the rest of our cloud platform.
Look after infrastructure monitoring with Grafana, Prometheus and Log Analytics.
Contribute to cloud cost management, disaster recovery and multi-cloud.
Work with Database Engineering, SRE and Developer Enablement on shared infrastructure projects.
Write clear documentation and help keep our infrastructure standards up to date.

We’re Looking For

Experience managing public cloud environments, ideally Azure.
Strong experience writing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
Good networking knowledge, including DNS, load balancing, TLS and CDNs or WAFs such as Cloudflare.
Experience with cloud identity and access management, RBAC and secrets management.
Experience building CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar).
Proficiency in a scripting language such as Go, Rust, PowerShell or Python.
Someone who embraces AI as part of how they work, moves faster, automates repetitive stuff and focuses on the problems that matter, while knowing when to apply their own judgement.
Good communication skills and the ability to work across teams.

Nice to haves

Experience with AI platforms or LLM APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Microsoft Foundry.
Experience running a multi-cloud setup (Azure and GCP).
Experience with zero‑trust networking or tools such as Cato.
