Job summary

Brooklyn Arts Council seeks an experienced Platform Design Systems Lead to guide design-system governance, adoption, and platform-level strategies for its digital product platform, aligning with enterprise standards to deliver accessible, scalable experiences.

The role collaborates with design, engineering, product, accessibility, and enterprise design-system teams, focusing on governance, documentation, enablement, and cross-functional workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in design systems or related digital product discipline.
• Experience leading or contributing to design-system adoption within a product area.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with React, Vue, or comparable front-end frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the platform design-system roadmap aligned with objectives and standards.
• Promote adoption of patterns, components, tokens, and documentation across the platform.
• Represent platform needs in enterprise design-system discussions to guide implementation.
• Lead governance processes, workflows, and acceptance criteria at the platform level.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, product, accessibility, and stakeholders to optimize handoffs.
• Provide guidance on design-token pipelines, accessibility, and CI/CD improvements.
