Job summary

Bayer is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the data science program within a multi-platform environment in Whippany, NJ. You will set strategy, oversee resourcing, and ensure ethical governance and scalable data products across the organization.

You will work with data engineers, scientists, and AI engineers to deliver impactful analytics, models, and dashboards, while advancing knowledge graphs, ontologies, and GenAI-enabled solutions for business priorities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, data science, or equivalent, or a bachelor’s with 10+ years of related experience.
• Strong background in machine learning, AI, statistical modeling, and data analysis.
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and ML.
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, and NumPy.
• Hands-on knowledge of RDF, OWL, SHACL, and building knowledge graphs and ontologies; Generative AI experience.

Responsibilities

• Set direction for data science across a platform.
• Oversee resourcing, budgeting, professionalism and outputs and products.
• Support and enable future IT developments and data science initiatives.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers to deploy data science products.
• Ensure data ethics and governance across projects.
