Job summary

Plot is building the next generation of social intelligence with an AI-native data platform. We’re seeking an engineer to own and evolve the core data systems that power millions of video signals used for analytics, AI-ready insights, and product surfaces.

You will stabilize high-throughput pipelines, design fast data access patterns, and separate transactional from analytical workloads. The role emphasizes ownership, reliability, and scalable architecture in a fast-moving startup environment.

Qualifications

• Deep experience operating Postgres in production under real-world read/write concurrency.
• Strong systems intuition to identify bottlenecks and tradeoffs.
• Experience designing analytical data architectures with read-optimized schemas and large-scale querying patterns.
• Comfort leading ambiguous, high-impact work and charting pragmatic paths forward.
• High ownership mindset with focus on correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
• No degree requirements.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the core data systems that power Plot, managing data flow from ingestion to analytics and product surfaces.
• Stabilize high-throughput write paths, reduce error rates, and improve reliability and observability.
• Design data access patterns to keep dashboards and analytics responsive under heavy data loads.
• Separate transactional and analytical workloads and define contracts to prevent contention.
• Build read-optimized models, including partitioning strategies and rollups.
• Enable AI-native analytics and efficient querying for complex questions.
• Make architectural calls, write RFCs, and guide platform evolution as needs grow.
• Raise the bar for reliability and performance across the team.
