Sarmal, Inc. in San Diego seeks a Principal Scientist to serve as the platform's principal technical architect.

This senior IC will define capture design, readout integration, and cross-workstream roadmaps spanning cardiac, sepsis, and epigenomics applications, with POC experiments to de-risk each application. You will mentor scientists, lead SBIR/STTR efforts, and partner with product teams to translate innovations into scalable diagnostics, leveraging multi-disciplinary chemistry, biology, and

Qualifications

• Demonstrated record translating molecular concepts to validated assays.
• Cross-functional leadership across multi-disciplinary R&D teams.
• Deep experience in bioconjugation and surface functionalization.
• Strong molecular biology toolkit and nucleic-acid readout design.
• Proficiency in data science, statistics, and DOE.

Responsibilities

• Own POC experiments and transfer to product teams.
• Define platform architecture and selectivity models.
• Direct design of capture agents and readout schemes.
• Lead SBIR/STTR grant efforts and IP strategy.
• Mentor staff and align cross-functional teams.
