Job Summary (List Format) – Platform Architect

Location: Northfield, IL

• Serve as Platform Architect for a large-scale digital/cloud platform modernization initiative at Medline.
• Lead architectural transformation from legacy Oracle ATG ecommerce systems to a modern Microsoft Azure-based platform.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions using Azure, Spring Boot microservices, and Next.js micro frontends.
• Guide phased strategies for decommissioning legacy systems and integrating modern microservices and web frontends.
• Develop and enforce architectural patterns and best practices for cloud-native application development.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Optimize CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Drive containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and Helm.
• Champion Zero Trust security principles, enforce RBAC and compliance policies, and collaborate on security initiatives.
• Architect for high availability, disaster recovery, elasticity, and operational resilience.
• Conduct architecture reviews to ensure performance, cost optimization, and best practices.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to ensure technical and business alignment.
• Provide thought leadership and mentorship to cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
• Hybrid role based in Northfield, IL, requiring 2-3 days onsite per week.
• 6+ month contract-to-hire engagement, with potential for full-time conversion.
