Physical Intelligence in San Francisco is hiring an API Product Engineer to build a self-service developer platform for Pi models. You’ll own data ingestion, fine-tuning, evaluation, and low-latency inference, serving thousands of partners and potentially millions of robots.

The role emphasizes scalable backend systems, multi-tenant infra, observability, and close collaboration with researchers to turn evolving model capabilities into stable APIs and tooling.

Qualificações

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production systems experience.
• Deep backend and systems experience with APIs, services, databases, caching, distributed systems.
• Experience building and scaling developer platforms for model serving or similar workloads.
• Ability to design scalable, multi-tenant infrastructure with observability and SLOs.
• Familiarity with ML systems to deploy and debug models in production.
• Strong Python skills and cross-boundary collaboration.
• High ownership and ability to ship end-to-end first version.

Responsabilidades

• Build Pi’s model API end to end including data ingestion, finetuning, evaluation, and low-latency inference.
• Design scalable systems for thousands of partners and potentially millions of robots.
• Architect multi-tenant infra with rate limiting, isolation, and observability.
• Turn partner data into usable product experiences from upload to evaluation.
• Operate low-latency inference systems for real-world robots.
• Collaborate with researchers to convert model capabilities into stable APIs.
• Learn from partner usage to improve APIs and tooling.
• Write high-quality production code tightly integrated with existing infra.
• Define the developer platform vision for general-purpose robotics.
