Job summary

1X in San Carlos, CA is building humanoid robots and the AI stack that powers them. We are seeking a senior engineer to create platform APIs for high‑quality training data, including data validation and auto-captioning, and to collaborate with the World Model team on pretraining a new world model.

You will operate at scale, support diverse developers, and drive AI capabilities across the robot software stack with a focus on performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building ML/AI powered systems in production.
• Strong Python and JavaScript/TypeScript programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI/ML frameworks and cloud deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship production features for AI world models from data collection through inference.
• Build data validation, auto-captioning/annotation, and validation APIs.
• Develop data pipelines, evaluation tools, and captioning APIs integrated with simulators and hardware.
• Optimize systems for latency, cost, and quality.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and customers to ensure reliability and usability.
