Job summary

Physical Intelligence is seeking a Fullstack Software Engineer to build internal products for Pi's research and operations teams. You will partner with operators, roboticists, researchers, and engineers to transform physical workflows into reliable software.

You will own human-robot interfaces, design for the full shift, and ensure safety with predictable degradation. The role focuses on real-time edge processing, on-prem/on-device deployment, and end-to-end system usability.

Qualifications

• Proficient in building production web apps and APIs with React, TypeScript, and Python.
• Experience with real-time web tech including WebRTC and WebSockets.
• Familiar with protobuf/gRPC interfaces and non-REST integrations.
• Experience shipping software for on-prem or device deployment with degraded-network handling.
• Strong UX instincts for high-stakes, high-frequency interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own the human-robot interfaces from setup to live operation and review.
• Design for the whole shift, including preparation, troubleshooting, handoffs, and feedback.
• Prioritize safety by making failures obvious and safe actions easy.
• Own the realtime edge: video, state, and control with low latency.
• Decide what stays local vs. cloud for safety-critical or latency-sensitive parts.
• Ship into the physical world with on-prem and on-device deployment and observability.
• Instrument interfaces to measure time loss and validate changes.
• Act as your own product manager: gather requirements and drive adoption.
