Job summary

Gannett Publishing Services/USA TODAY CO in Rockaway, NJ seeks a Full-Time Platemaker to support daily newspaper production on double-wide presses and ensure pages are processed, plated, and delivered on schedule.

You will operate, maintain, and calibrate CTP systems and plate processors, monitor page files and workflows, verify file integrity, and communicate proactively with Editorial Operations and production centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in web offset printing or newspaper production preferred.
• Ability to monitor multiple systems and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 1,000 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and calibrate CTP systems and plate processors.
• Monitor page files and production workflows to meet deadlines.
• Verify page completeness, file integrity, and production readiness before plating.
• Monitor NewsWay and related workflow systems for transmission issues.
• Communicate proactively with Editorial Operations and production centers regarding issues.
• Respond to workflow alerts and troubleshoot file delivery delays.
• Maintain records of production activity and equipment performance.
• Monitor plate, chemistry, and consumable inventories and communicate replenishment needs.
• Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Assist with pressroom operations.
