This position is responsible for the fabrication and on-time production of parts, including GMAW, MIG welding, grinding panels, fitting pipes, tightening connections, cutting various materials on different machines, and maintaining welding equipment. The focus is on producing quality fabricated steel parts according to specifications in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
- Minimum 3 years of welding experience for level II.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and apply a WPS.
- Capability to pass a steel plate GMAW fillet visual test in the 2F position and a 1G GMAW test.
- Proficiency in setting up oxyfuel and plasma torches, making clean square, straight, beveled cuts, and wash welds.
- Adherence to all safety procedures and ability to advise others on safety.
- Advanced understanding of sketches/blueprints.
- Skill in the safe and correct use of all hand tools.
- Certification in the use of overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Ability to accurately read tape measures and other measuring devices such as pressure gauges, fillet weld gauges, and levels.
- Consistent and timely attendance record.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a team and follow directions from supervisors and peers.
- Competence in operating band saws, ironworkers, bench grinders, and port-a-bands.
- Ability to determine if own work is complete and meets specifications.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of weld joints and weld symbols.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering sketches for assembly.
- Capability to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
- Experience operating welders and replacing gas cylinders or other parts.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mainly responsible for welding and grinding skids, tanks, SCR stands, and cable trays, referencing engineering documents for guidance.
- Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, manipulate heavy equipment, and cables.
- Manual dexterity for operating digital equipment, including computers, PLCs, relays, and controllers.
- Stand and walk for extended periods on the manufacturing floor.
- Work environment may be indoors or outdoors, with exposure to weather elements, noise, and moving equipment.
