Job summary

Closure Systems International is seeking a Quality Engineer/QA professional to lead mold qualification, perform data-driven quality initiatives, and maintain GMP-compliant processes in a plastics manufacturing environment.

You will work with production and technical teams to troubleshoot issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across products and processes while maintaining quality plans and internal audits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 3–7 years of experience and formal training in key technical areas.
  • Manufacturing project participation experience.
  • Experience using various quality tools.
  • Strong understanding of SPC / SQC methods and charting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to develop quality plans.
  • Good computer and networking skills including database management.
  • Experience with auditing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent MS Office skills to prepare spreadsheets and management communications.
  • Experience in plastics manufacturing and high-speed production.
  • Experience training employees in quality and job-related activities.
  • Experience with measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify new molds and correct dimensional problems.
  • Lead quality projects (SPC, DOE tests) to improve products and processes.
  • Troubleshoot process issues with production and technical staff.
  • Maintain material specifications and QC records as needed.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions with QE oversight.
  • Participate in DOE and other tests to analyze and qualify processes.
  • Use Infinity QS to implement SPC and related techniques.
  • Manage projects for new products, samples and processes.
  • Develop and execute plans to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure GMP compliance through microbiological testing and audits.
  • Set up new items in the business system and verify against quality plans.
  • Manage internal audit system; schedule, follow up and close gaps.
  • Support SQF Food Packaging Safety Program and communication of vital info.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconforming products and systems.
  • Identify and record product/process quality problems.
  • Provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Prevent shipment of nonconforming product to customers.
  • Suggest continual improvement actions for products, processes, systems.
  • Verify implementation of solutions.

Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Will be heavily involved in the qualification of new molds and correction of dimensional problems.

  2. This position will be responsible for various special projects related to Quality Management, SPC, etc.

  3. Will contribute to the trouble shooting of various process issues, working closely with various production and technical people to problem solve as a team.

  4. May be required to maintain raw materials, in process and finished goods specifications.

  5. Upon implementation of corrective actions, verification of effectiveness will be required by the QE.

  6. Participate in DOE’s and other tests to analyze, improve and qualify products and processes.

  7. Through the use of Infinity QS implement SPC, and other statistical techniques as needed.

  8. Implement project management for new products, samples and processes.

  9. Develop and execute projects to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency.

  10. Ensure compliance with GMP requirements by way of microbiological testing and audits.

  11. Will be required to set up new items within the business system, add to Infinity, verify against quality plans or create new quality plans.

  12. Manage internal audit system. Schedule internal audits, follow up on completion and ensure any discrepancies are identified, communicated, assigned and fixed.

  13. Support the development, implementation, review, management and maintenance of the plant’s Food Packaging Safety Program, including the SQF System. Communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System. Report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action to maintain the integrity of the SQF System. Cover in the absence of key personnel to maintain the integrity of the SQF System and Food Safety in the plant.

  14. Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any nonconforming product or quality systems.

  15. Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality system.

  16. Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

  17. Prevent nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.

  18. Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems.

  19. Verify the implementation of solutions.

Educational and Other Skills Requirements:
  • High school diploma with 3 — 7 years’ experience combined with specific formal training in key technical areas.
  • Manufacturing project participation experience.
  • Must have experience using various quality tools.
  • Must have a strong understanding of SPC / SQC methods and charting.
  • Must have excellent communication and team building skills
