Job summary

Great Lakes Polymer Technologies is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize existing products, processes and systems to support ongoing business. This role also serves as the corporate expert on product applications and specifies the processes required to manufacture them.

You will lead trials from concept to prototype to initial production, collaborate with R&D, quality, production and maintenance to meet objectives, and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• 4 yr. B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial or Composite Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with extrusion and plastics manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Incorporate and/or develop new or optimize existing processes to improve profitability, market share, or generate new business.
• Lead material, product or process trials and commercialization from concept to prototype to initial production.
• Collaborate with R&D, quality, production and maintenance to meet company objectives.
• Consult with manufacturing and customers on product design modifications.
• Document trial plans, reports, studies, customer test runs, and other reports.
• Ensure processes comply with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Apply SPC, Six Sigma, and QW to support quality control.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operators and technicians.
• Travel may be required up to 20%.
