Responsibilities include surgical first assist, perioperative assessments, diagnostics, patient education, and supervising PA/NP students.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a surgical first assist, demonstrating the manual dexterity for surgical support.
• Use surgical instruments and techniques, including scalpel, electrocautery, sterile technique.
• Obtain detailed patient histories and perform perioperative assessments.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies (x-rays, ECGs, labs).
• Develop assessments and care plans with supervising physician.
• Perform injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and home care instructions.
• Maintain clinical records and document patient status and treatments.
• Provide postoperative follow-up and health maintenance care.
• Guide PA and NP students on the service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
