Responsibilities

• Opening of sterile packs, instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile environment.
• Preparing set-up of all surgical cases.
• Reporting and troubleshooting broken or defective supplies or equipment.
• Checking and supplying operating room at end of scheduled cases.
• Maintaining services from sales representatives to provide equipment within budget.
• Organizing supplies and equipment efficiently.
• Maintains equipment manuals and updates.
• Provides in-service on sterile technique, equipment, and procedures.
• Maintains account sheet for equipment.
• Checks surgeon's preference card is current and accessible.
• Provides emotional support for the patient.
• Reviews policies and procedures yearly.
• Attends updates and continuing education relevant to specialty area.
• Maintains safe environment to protect patient from cross infection.
• Obtains CPR card and attends yearly in-services on fire safety, infection control, and meetings.
• Assists in quality assurance program.
• Assist Surgeon with Pre/Post Operative Care.
