The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time academic plastic surgeon to join the Division of Plastic Surgery within the Department of Surgery. The position is open-rank/open-track with emphasis on general plastic surgery, especially breast, and opportunities in oncologic reconstruction and gender-affirming care.

Fellowship training is encouraged but not mandatory. The role includes teaching medical students and residents, pursuing research, and shared call coverage

Position Summary The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a full-time academic plastic surgeon to join our Division of Plastic Surgery. The Division of Plastic Surgery is among 9 clinical Divisions in the Department of Surgery. The Division currently includes 7 faculty members that provide a broad array of clinical services in order to provide the highest quality care for plastic surgery patients including oncologic reconstruction, gender affirming care, trauma (including facial and hand trauma), microvascular reconstruction, aesthetic and craniofacial procedures. The clinical focus for this position is general plastic surgery, with an emphasis on breast. Fellowship-trained applicants are encouraged to apply, but completion of a fellowship is not a requirement for this position. Other opportunites in general plastic surgery, including gender affirming care, microsurgical and post traumatic reconstruction are available. The clinical position includes call coverage for the general reconstructive surgery practice, as well as hand and/or facial trauma call. Faculty members within the Division of Plastic Surgery should be committed to all three missions of the department and School of Medicine, including the clinical, education, and research missions. Faculty members are expected to regularly participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. An interest in any one of a broad array of research interests is desirable, including but not limited to clinical, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery research. Faculty members must be committed to delivering high quality clinical care that is of value to the patients of UNC . Selected candidate must be team-oriented and have the ability to interact well with colleagues inside and out of the Division. This position is being recruited as an open-rank, open-track appointment between 0.5 FTE and 1.0 FTE . Individuals who exhibit exceptional skills and achievements may be considered for a leadership position within the department of surgery. Leadership roles are not guaranteed and are dependent upon the current needs of our surgical programs.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements Candidates who have finished or will be completing an ACGME -accredited residency in plastic surgery. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, or in the process of seeking certification.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience The ideal applicant will have an interest in and proficiency in general plastic surgery procedures with a special interest in oncologic reconstruction. Applicants with research experience in clinical outcomes, quality and safety, health services, education, ethics, informatics, or basic science/translational research are strongly encouraged to apply.
